Play A Monster's Expedition

A Monster’s Expedition
by Draknek Limited
Released: Jul 25
$9.99

Play as a monster who finds themselves journeying across tiny islands. To cross between these landmasses, push and roll trees to create bridges across water gaps to continue exploring and seeing various, humorous museum exhibits about the world of “Human Englandland.”

Why you should play it

Draknek makes some of the finest puzzle games around, and A Monster’s Expedition is no exception. It takes a super simple idea and iterates on it to create bespoke challenges for each island and a flow that lets you explore without ever feeling stuck. It also has a magical sense of pace where just when you think you’ve tired of its mechanics, a new one pops out of nowhere to refresh your interest.

Why you might not play it

As a game that was previously locked behind a subscription service (and then removed with no way to play on mobile), I’m glad to see there’s now a way to pay once for one of Apple Arcade’s best releases. That said, if you are a previous Arcade subscriber who already played A Monster’s Expedition, there isn’t anything new about this App Store release. In fact, save data from the Apple Arcade version syncs seamlessly with this re-release, allowing anyone who started the game previously to pick up where they left off.
