Book of Demons: Tablet Edition is basically what Diablo would be if it was entirely redesigned for touch. You pick a hero, crawl down in the depths of a dungeon full of demons and collect loot that you then upgrade and equip to make your hero stronger. What makes Book of Demons more than a mere knock-off is how many twists and improvements developer Thing Trunk makes to create a game that feels familiar yet unique in a way that is immensely satisfying.

Why you should play it

Book of Demons is the only action rpg I’ve played on mobile that feels entirely natural to play. There are tons of little convenience features like a linear path, a loot radar, and even a “Superhot” mode that can essentially stop the action whenever you aren’t touching the screen. The most impressive thing about these features is how they enhance your ability to play without compromising the challenge and satisfaction of taking down overwhelming mobs of demonic creatures.

Why you might not play it

As the full title suggests, Book of Demons is only available on iPad, and for good reason. Even on a larger screen, it can be hard to accurately land attacks in encounters against huge numbers of enemies, and there are tons of icons and skill buttons that would be too tiny to tap accurately on a phone.
