So many beautiful things move in concert to make The Gardens Between work as well as it does. Gorgeously rendered environments, detailed character animations, evocative soundscaping, and (most importantly) smart puzzle design combine marvelously to create a breathtaking experience that you can literally move through in your own time.

Why you should play it

It’s a puzzle game that expertly marries presentation and gameplay. Everything is exquisitely crafted and you get to savor every little moment through its time manipulation mechanics. Nothing moves forward unless you make it, and even then, you can move backward at any point. Sometimes, you have to rewind to make progress, but at others, you just want to. By the game's end, the incredible restraint The Gardens Between exercises culminates in a powerful and surprising narrative resolution.

Why you might not play it

You might have already played it on PC or console. Or, you might be tempted to enjoy it on a larger screen. Luckily, The Gardens Between looks and plays incredibly well on both tablets and phones, including a portrait mode presentation that works astonishingly well. All your progress syncs between devices flawlessly, too.
